FORMER Scotland goalkeeper Andy Goram was beginning life away from the international scene yesterday heartened by messages of support and goodwill.

Team manager Craig Brown indicated that if the Rangers keeper wanted to reconsider his decision to retire then he would reassess the situation.

Goram now plans to take a holiday and sort out his domestic problems. The 34-year-old star flew into London yesterday after his dramatic decision to quit international football just two weeks before the opening game in France against Brazil.

He said he had decided to bow out after making 43 international appearances because of on-going allegations in the press about his private life.
