TWO pupils from the High School of Glasgow have won the UK English-Speaking Union Schools Debating Competition held at Manchester Grammar School. Ewan Smith, left, 17, from Bearsden, and Niall Kennedy, 16, from Glasgow's West End, were chosen by a panel of judges chaired by Lord Hunt of Wirral, who presented them with the Silver Mace. Opposing the motion ''This house would negotiate with terrorists'', they fought against a team from Wales to win.
