n GASPS of amazement will accompany the rapid clicking of camera shutters as visitors snap up the ''floral bridge'' over Strathclyde Park's loch.

Created by the Scottish Bedding and Pot Plant Group - made up of some 65 nurseries throughout Scotland - the bridge uses the permanent connection between the shore and the tower of the loch. A 24-metre arching length will hold 200 window boxes.

The brilliant blooms of more than 1,200 Surfinia petunias display eight shades of pink and purple flowers.

The group's spectacular creation follows last year's eye-catching recreation of a miner's garden. This year's flowers come from group members in the Clyde Valley, Dumfries and Midlothian.
