anAs thousands of visitors head for Strathclyde Park, the small group of permanent staff of the Royal Horticultural Society are already looking ahead to their next projects.

They will be at the park for the five days following the show while the show is ''stripped out''. Then comes a short break before they join English colleagues to assist in events at various venues - from Hampton Court to the NEC in Birmingham.

Then it's back to a task they have already begun at the new RHS office at Strathclyde Park - preparing for next year's Scottish National Gardening Show, with plans already afoot to make it bigger than ever.
