SOME law students at Glasgow Caledonian University will have to resit their third-year exam after a paper with last year's questions was mistakenly handed out.

Despite the fact that the students had already seen and worked on last year's questions as part of a study exercise with tutors, course leaders failed to realise their blunder until the examination was finished.

University chiefs have blamed an ''administrative error'' and have launched a full investigation.

Students will have to resit their end of term examination to maintain the integrity and academic standards of their degree which otherwise could be ''called in to question'', a university spokeswoman said.

All 54 third-year students affected in the mix-up have been told they have to sit the exam again.

Student representatives said yesterday that those affected were very angry and their welfare office had received a number of complaints.
