A #40m plan to improve the quality of life - economically and socially - in run-down areas of Greenock, Gourock and Port Glasgow was given the go-ahead with a three-year agreement between Inverclyde Council and Scottish Homes on major developments.

Welcomed by tenants, the cash injection follows disclosure this week of a possible #50m jobs boost with a plan to re-develop the former East Glen Shipyard at Port Glasgow, promising 1000 new jobs.
