POLLOK bounced back from the disappointment of last week's OVD Junior Cup final defeat to win what is considered junior football's second most prestigious competition - the West of Scotland Cup.

David Elliott, the villain of the piece last weekend following his first-half dismissal against Arthurlie, was yesterday's hero against Petershill with two goals in extra time, which took the cup back to Newlandsfield for the first time since 1992.

It was Petershill, however, who opened the scoring with a Raymond Dunne shot, and substitute John Paisley came off the bench in the second half to score with a header which took the game into extra time.

Pollok will now turn their attention to regaining the Reebok Premier title, where three points from their remaining two games against Arthurlie and Neilston will be enough to secure the championship and also assure them of a place in the Evening Times Super Cup. Results:

q KEVIN Donovan took Grimsby back into the English first division with a winning goal after 17 minutes against Northampton in the second division play-off final at Wembley.

However, the former West Brom striker almost turned villain when his penalty after 76 minutes was saved by Town goalkeeper Andy Woodman.

Donovan latched onto a delightful through ball from Wayne Burnett to score his twenty-first goal of the season.

Referee Terry Heilbron played six minutes of injury time but the Mariners held on to complete a double of promotion and the Auto Windscreens Shield this season.
