A SILVER snuff box, carried by its first owner in the Battle of Culloden, fetched #27,600 at auction in Edinburgh yesterday
It was the highest price achieved at what Christie's described as its best sale of Scottish silver.
The box, made in 1744 by Hugh Ross of Tain, Easter Ross, for William Munro of Achanie, was bought by an unnamed dealer.
