London brewery Fuller Smith & Turner bucked the market trend against traditional beers as sales of its cask conditioned beers rose 11%.

The group, which also takes in Fuller's Inns and Hotels, announced pre-tax profits for the year to March 28 up at #11.88m, from #11m in 1997. Turnover was up at #114.3m, from #102m.

The fastest growth was in turnover from food sales through managed pubs, which rose 42% as the company expanded the number of outlets offering food.
