Deedee Cuddihy finds out what's going on in new developments

Every little helps

TAYWOOD Homes are helping to keep Scottish children ''as safe as houses'' by naming Children First as their chosen charity. The company will be helping this RSSPCC charity by donating #1 for every first-time visitor who signs in at a Taywood showhome. You can help kids and househunt at the same time at Taywood's Millgait development in Airdrie where the Bute two-bedroom cottage flat is priced at #44,450, including curtains and carpets. There is also a three-bedroom villa for #75,950. At the company's Burnside Park site in Chapelhall, Lanarkshire, special summer packages, including free carpets or free legal fees up to #400 or 5% deposit paid, are available on selected properties until the end of June with prices for three-bedroom end terraced and detached homes and some new styles ranging from #59,450 to #80,225.

Make your pitch

In Kilmarnock, there are only seven properties left at the company's Rowallan Gardens development - within easy driving distance of Glasgow and Ayrshire's scenic coastline and golf courses. Still available are detached homes costing from #76,950 to #107,500. And if your idea of heaven is living next door to a football star, run out to Houston, in Renfrewshire, and reserve one of just seven very attractive properties that Taywood is building at their Earlsgate site. Rangers midfielder Derek McInnes and his wife, Nicola, an air stewardess, have already bought one - an L-shape design with the space they need for entertaining - but a few are still available priced from #143,950.

Rich harvest

BELLWAY Homes newest development, Grayslands at Denny Loanhead, was officially opened recently by Janet Gray, 84. Grayslands, where two showhomes are on view, occupies part of what was once Mrs Gray's dairy farm and the site has been named after her. Iain Davidson, sales manager for Bellway, said: ''When Grayslands is completed there will be 107 homes offering a choice of two, three or four bedrooms in either semi-detached or detached styles with prices ranging from #58,995 to #92,500.''
