Trading places: Seven English New Labour MPs who have firms in their constituencies which rely heavily on the oil industry swopped their Commons places for a visit off shore yesterday to check out the business. They were Ann Keen (Brentwood and Isleworth); Judy Mallaber (Amber Valley); Gillian Merron (Lincoln); Angela Smith (Basildon); Daria Taylor (Stockton South); Christine Butler (Castle Point); and Barbara Follett (Stevenage).
