THE ''blistering attack'' by Lord Hattersley (May 30) on the New (not Labour) Party is long overdue.

To add to Lord Hattersley's condemnation, and indicative of the ''New Party'', it will suffice to comment that we, as pensioners, probably for the first time in any Budget by Labour or Tory since the war, did not even warrant a mention in Gordon Brown's Budget speech in March.
