Whyte & Mackay Scottish Cup

Penicuik and Kelso have more in common than meets the eye. Both Border League minnows face daunting opposition in the second round of Whyte & Mackay Scottish Cup group matches tomorrow, and, of more interest, in a week when sports' pages were dominated by the problems of Scotland's World Cup goalkeeper, is that Andy Goram used to play for them both.

As Penicuik journey to visit holders Grange and Kelso to West of Scotland, both may also wish the football genius was still with them. Grange, who had a resounding win over Section 3 rivals Ayr a fortnight ago, are unlikely to slip up. Kelso can expect a similar attitude from a West side who have cruised through the opening weeks of the season.

qWith the exception of Aberdeenshire's home tie with Gala, Section 2 looks harder to forecast. Poloc will be wary of visitors, Hillhead, who ran the Dons close two weeks ago, while Stoneywood-Dyce have grabbed several notable cup scalps in recent seasons and will make life awkward for West Lothian at Boghall.

qGlasgow Accies last cup clash with tomorrow's Section 4 opponents Drumpellier, two years ago, saw them torn torn apart by an amazing 163, including eighteen sixes, from former Drumps' pro Saleem Sajjad. They will be pleased to note that Saleem has since moved on.
