ONE of the leading exponents of an instrument pioneered by Glaswegian William Primrose, Su Zhen, of China, gave a recital at the 26th International Viola Congress in the city, only the second time the event has been held in the UK.

It coincided with Primrose being recognised in his home city. A commemorative plaque, designed and crafted by Glasgow artist Ian Ramsay, and funded by the Friends of Glasgow School of Art, was unveiled at the congress in the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

It will be mounted within the next few weeks at Primrose's birthplace in Wilton Drive in the west end of the city.
