The Army yesterday appealed for the return of two high-powered assault rifles that disappeared during a passing out parade at an Army base. The SA80 weapons, capable of firing hundreds of rounds a minute, went missing during the August 13 ceremony at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate, Yorkshire. A spokeswoman said it was too early to say if the weapons had fallen into the wrong hands.
