A WORLD champion darts player indecently assaulted two young women in his motorhome following an exhibition after one had beaten him in a drinking competition.

One of the women, a 23-year-old administration officer, told Dunfermline Sheriff Court yesterday she was subjected to sexual indecency after winning a drinking contest with Phil Taylor, 40.

Taylor, who gave his address as the Cricketers Arms, Maybank, Newcastle under Lyme, was found guilty of assaulting the woman and her 23-year-old friend after an exhibition in a hotel in Leslie, Fife, on October 10, 1999.

The administration officer said her father had driven her and her friend, also 23, to the hotel and they had arranged for her friend's boyfriend to pick them up and take them back to Rosyth.

During the event the women each drank seven bottles of lager. The administration officer said: ''Phil came to our table and asked if we enjoyed the exhibition.

''He asked how we were getting home and we told him. He said they would be passing Rosyth on their way back.

''We were having a good time and if I could get Phil to visit my local pub, in Rosyth, it would be quite a feather in my cap.

''He then challenged me to a drinking competition. He said I could not down vodka and Irn Bru faster than himself. I accepted and I won four times.''

But when she got into the accused's vehicle along with her friend and Mick Connor, Taylor's driver, she was sick in the sink.

She said: ''I was lying down on a seat in the back when Phil tried to kiss me. I told him to stop and pushed him away but he kept coming back. He undid my trouser zip several times.

''I kept pushing him off. Eventually, he undid my bra and fondled my breasts.

''Immediately afterwards I was sick again and he left me alone. I dozed off and then I heard my friend call out 'How the hell did we get to Edinburgh'. She told the driver to stop and we got out.''

The friend told the court: ''In the campervan I heard my friend tell Phil to get off her and leave her alone on several occasions.

''We were under the influence of drink but not drunk.

''She was eventually sick and then Phil leaned over the front seat, put his hands down inside my shirt and fondled my breasts under my bra before I could push his hands out.''

Denying the assaults, Taylor, who is married with four children, said: ''I am deeply hurt by the young ladies' allegations. I'm just not that type of person.''

Sheriff Isobella McColl continued the case to March 27 for reports.
