RANGERS captain Richard Gough picked up some battle tips for the forthcoming football season from the chieftain of the Clan Wallace yesterday.

Gough, 34, was kitted out in an authentic Highland costume, complete with broadsword, for his meeting with Seoras Wallace and two other ``Bravehearts'' from the clan outside the Wallace monument, near Stirling.

The Rangers defender donned the kilt in preparation for his role as the 145th chieftain of the Bridge of Allan Highland Games on August 4.

He said: ``I'm taking this as seriously as my football. As chieftain, it's my responsibility to look after all the athletes and make sure of fair play, and everyone knows I play fair on the field.''
