THREE Dutchmen and an American made a second appearance in private before Sheriff David Bogie at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday. Mr Jan Van Rijs, 51, Mr Lieuwe Hockstra, 57, and Mr Hendrick Van Rijs, 24, all from Holland, and Mr Ronnie Van Rijs, 29, from Alabama, were each charged with contravening the 1990 Criminal Justice Internation Co-operation Act.
It is alleged they were all knowingly concerned in the carrying or concealing of a quantity of cannabis resin on the sailing vessel Isolda. All four were remanded in custody.
Indecent assault
A 33-YEAR-OLD man climbed into bed with a woman in a house in Eyemouth where he was staying overnight. Robert Biggins, of Deanhead Drive, Eyemouth, who admitted a charge of indecent assault, had sentence deferred for six months at Duns Sheriff Court.
Chimp put down
A FEMALE chimpanzee was shot dead after attacking a keeper, Chester Zoo disclosed yesterday.
#4m contract
PRIVATE company Gardner Merchant Sodexho yesterday was set to win the #4m annual contract to provide support services for Victoria Infirmary, Glasgow. The hospital trust's management said it had been declared preferred bidder for the contract.
Missing man
ROYAL Mail staff are helping police in the search for a missing Glasgow man, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, by delivering appeal posters. Police are concerned for the safety of Mr John Williamson, 59, who was last seen in the garden of his home in Broadholm Street in the city's Parkhouse area on Wednesday, July 24.
Drink driver
DRIVER Alan Hart, 32, of Etive Street, Wishaw, was banned for five years and fined #600 at Duns Sheriff Court after he admitted driving with more than double the alcohol limit.
Boy in court
A 14-YEAR-OLD boy from Spittal in Berwick has been charged with 10 offences of assault and six charges of carrying a loaded airgun and firing it near the highways.

A DRIVER who was killed in a two-car crash on a country road between Easter Langlee Farm and Langshaw, near Galashiels, was named yesterday as Mr Dennis Gibson, of Forest Hall, Newcastle.
