Ayrshire rivals Auchinleck and Cumnock were given plum home ties against Central League hopes Blantyre Vics and Arthurlie in the quarter-finals of the OVD Cup competition. Holders Tayport after 18 consecutive home draws will this time travel to meet Cambuslang Rangers while Fauldhouse United will play hosts to last season's beaten semi-finalists, Pollok.
Cumnock manager Billy Whitefield was delighted with what he called the tie of the round. He said: ''The better the opposition the better we seem to play and I am obviously pleased to get the tie at home although some of our best results this year have been away from Townhead Park.'' Draw:
Auchinleck v Blantyre Vics; Cumnock v Arthurlie; Fauldhouse v Pollok, Cambuslang v Tayport. Ties to be played on March 15.
q Playing into a strong wind, Petershill looked to have weathered the first half storm against league leaders Maryhill, but with two minutes of the half remaining Pat Keogh put Alan Grant clear to shoot home Maryhill's opener and within a minute Gerry McLaughlin failed to collect a Richie McCusker free kick and Neil Watt smashed a loose ball in for No 2.
A Brian Bilsland double just before half time helped Baillieston to a 3-1 win over Reebok Premier Division bottom club Vale of Leven.
Rob Roy came from behind to snatch the points which take them into the top half of the Premier Division. It was Shettleston however who took the lead just on half time when Joe Gardner lobbed the ball past Ayr United provisional signing keeper Vennard.
With the wind behind them in the second half Rob Roy drew level after sustained pressure when Scott Smith headed home in 66 minutes and with 15 minutes left following a free kick from Chris McMillan, Robert Bell rose to head home what the winner. Shettleston's misery was compounded when substitute Peter Lamont was red carded near the end.
Shotts Bon Accord extended their lead at the top of the Reebok Second Division to seven points with a game in hand following their 2-1 win over Stonehouse. First-half goals from Peter Daly and Colin Walker secured the three points for Shotts.
In the only Western First Division game which beat the weather Largs and Irvine Meadow ended all even. A point apiece was the right result. It was defensive errors which led to the goals. In 40 minutes Largs went ahead when Jamie Rodden took advantage of a mix-up in the Meadow defence. Ten minutes into the second half Chris Dougall scored Meadow's equaliser when keeper Wardrope hesitated coming for the high ball.
Winton Rovers and Troon shared the points in their top of the table clash in the Western Second Division. Against the wind Troon went ahead when Winton's Greig McMillan knocked a Kevin Gribben free kick into his own net. On the half hour Stevie Morrison gave Winton a share of the points when he shot home from 10 yards.
Troon were reduced to 10 men in the second half when John Harvey was sent off.

It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
