Oban lifeboat the Mora Edith Macdonald has become the first lifeboat in the 174-year history of the RNLI to complete 100 callouts in a year. The Trent class vessel, launched in July last year, has already paid back a huge part of its #1.2m price, and goes into the record books after less than 18 months at sea.

Although the Oban lifeboat's 100th call was a routine medical evacuation, it has already seen its share of drama. Within a month of being launched the Mora Edith became the first Scottish lifeboat to have a baby born on board.
