Update
RANGERS have written to the SFA in a bid to obtain their #1.2m combined transfer fee from Crystal Palace for Craig Moore and Gordan Petric.
The Ibrox club sold the duo to the London club earlier this
season. However, Palace have had to call in adminstrators after plunging #10m into the red.
That has prompted the Ibrox club to enlist the help of the SFA to ensure that Palace pay up.
Palace agreed to pay the fee in instalments, which had been received on time, up until now. However, Rangers are uncertain they will get the remainder of their cash.
A spokesman for the SFA said: ''Rangers have written to us requesting that we inform Crystal Palace's administrators of the agreement they have with them.
''The transfer fee was to be paid in instalments and they have all been paid so far. But with administrators called in, Rangers want us to ensure they know the arrangements of the payments.''
Three years ago Raith Rovers found themselves in a similar position when Millwall, also hit a cash crisis. The London club had bought Davie Sinclair, Stevie Crawford, and Jason Dair for #1m, but called in the adminis- trators before the money was paid.
Rovers had to wait almost two years before finally getting their cash from the troubled club.
Palace agreed on fees of #800,000 for Moore and #400,000 for Petric. Now Rangers chairman David Murray has taken steps to ensure the troubled club settle their debt.
Meanwhile, Rangers captain Lorenzo Amoruso has pledged to end his careeer at Ibrox.
Amoruso, who has begun to show his class after a difficult start to his Rangers career, is ready to commit himself to Ibrox beyond his current contract. ''I have three more years on my contract and will have no problem
staying here at Rangers after that,'' said the Italian.
''If the chairman asks me to extend my contract, then I would say yes. I could stay here for the rest of my career, because I want to see Rangers winning everything in Scotland and in Europe as well.''
q A POSSIBLE move to Chelsea for Celtic goalkeeper Stewart Kerr was put on hold until the summer yesterday,.
The out-of-favour Kerr had hoped a #1m deal would resurrect his career, but Celtic, at present, do not have sufficient cover for first-choice No.1 Jonathan Gould.
Also willing to stay on with Celtic is Danish international midfield player, Morten Wieghorst.
After returning, for 30 minutes as an over-age player for the club's under-21s in a 3-1 win
over Hearts, following an enforced seven-month absence, he said he wished to sign a new contract in the summer now that he has recovered from a serious knee injury.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
