MacDONALD-GAUNT - Margaret It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret MacDonald-Gaunt announce her passing on 11th March 2022 at the age of 89 after a major stroke. She passed peacefully after 3 days in Crosshouse Hospital in Ayr and is survived by her loving children Catherine and John, and her grandson Rory. Margaret was a loving, inspirational woman. She met her future husband Major Alex MacDonald-Gaunt of the Black Watch at a ball in Edinburgh castle in 1968, and they were married for 36 years until his passing in 2005. Prior to her marriage, Margaret enjoyed a rewarding career in television and broadcasting, leading the way for future generations of professional women. Even at 89, Margaret remained active, constantly learning, laughing, and exploring - above all else she relished her time at the centre of her family. She earned her honours degree in Maths at the Open University while raising her children, she gave tours at the Burrell Collection for 25 years and she remained an avid Bridge player throughout. She will be remembered for her passion for life, her devotion to her family and her compassionate soul. The funeral service will be held at Masonhill Crematorium, Ayr KA6 6EN, at 3.30pm on Monday 21st March 2022. All are welcome.
