NICCOL - J Graham (CEng CMarEng MIMarEST) Peacefully in hospital in Bunbury, Western Australia, after a short illness, James Graham Niccol, aged 77. Elder son of Thomas and Vida Niccol of Glasgow (Thomas Niccol and Son Marine Surveyors), brother of David and Moira. Loving and much-loved father of Claire and Thomas, father-in-law of Jeremy and proud Grandpa of Sarah and Juliette. Graham grew up in Glasgow and served his apprenticeship at Stephen's Shipyard before travelling the world as Chief Engineer on cruise and merchant ships. He made Western Australia his home and eventually set up his own company Thomas Niccol & Son Australia. His connection with Glasgow and Scotland remained strong - as did his accent - and he was much in demand as an after-dinner speaker at Burns Suppers and pipe band events, renowned for his humour and Chick Murray routine. He will be greatly missed by his family in Australia, Singapore and UK as well as his many friends around the world.
