I noticed this announcement in the Herald and it immediately transported me back 60 years to Primary Va at St John’s Primary in Hamilton. June became our teacher in session 1960-1 and, after a prior disruptive year of many teacher changes, she provided much needed stability during that year. All I remember about her was positive and my parents were happy too. I think my Dad, Willie Liddell, who was PE teacher at the Academy in Hamilton, may have known Barrie (?FP), so that may have helped in forming their positive view. I have fished out my report card for that year which June has signed in November, February andf or May, so she was there for the bulk of the year but I do think she may have left then on maternity leave(?). Unfortunately, our paths never crossed again but I hope she had a fulfilling life and, I guess, from the announcement, must have continued down the teaching path, as a rewarding career.
It is strange when the past revisits suddenly. But, having an unusual surname certainly helps the recognition process!
My condolences and best wishes to the family.
