Alexandra (nee Buchanan) Peddie

PEDDIE - Alexandra (nee Buchanan) 1944 to 2021 It is with great sorrow that we report the passing of Alexandra Peddie. "Sandra", as she was known to her friends and relatives, passed away quietly in her sleep on 20th November after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She leaves Richard, her husband of 55 years, her daughter Alexis and her son Martin. Sandra came to Canada in 1966 from Glasgow, Scotland, as an adventure with Richard, 10 days after their wedding. She grew to love this country. She had a friendly, outgoing personality and made many lifelong friends in Canada. After several years in office work, Sandra found her calling in gerontology and fitness training. Over 15 years, her volunteer role as a dance and fitness instructor at the Toronto YMCA, and training at George Brown College, helped pave the way for this career change. She taught in complex care and municipal community centres for over 20 years in Greater Vancouver. Her outgoing personality, and musical and dance talents, attracted many participants, who were inspired and entertained by her classes and became lifelong friends. Sandra now rests in peace and will be remembered fondly by many people whose lives she has touched. Friends, relatives and neighbours will be invited to reflect on her life, her love for music and dancing, and the friendship she brought into the lives of many in a "Celebration of Sandra's Life" in the Spring of 2022.
