Isabella Lilburn Meil (nee Bain)

MEIL - Isabella Lilburn (nee Bain) Died peacefully on Sunday 11th July 2021 in Smiddybrae House, Dounby, Orkney with her close friends by her side. Formerly of Dyke-End, St Ola, Orkney. Dearly beloved wife of the late Johnnie Meil and adored Aunt of Sheila, Morag, Fiona and Gordon. Fondly remembered and will always be in our hearts. Private funeral service in Kirkwall East Church, Orkney and thereafter St Olaf Cemetery on Monday 19th July 2021. Family flowers only please.

A much-loved former pupil, former teacher, and former Infant Mistress of Jordanhill College School, who touched very many lives there between 1941 and 1986. This tall, gracious and ever-smiling lady will be remembered by many for decades to come - and always with reverence and honour.

My husband, Malcolm, and I were at JordanhillSschool in glasgow as pupils with Isobel and Isobel came to the class catchups in September several times. She was my 1st eleven hockey goalie and like everything she did she was very good indeed as she was in the annual school Gilbert and Sullivan operas as a wonderful principal We know just how she loved all things Orcadian and how happy she was with Johnnie for all their years together.
