James Campbell December 10th, 2020
Dear Joan,

Mother (Shirley) and I were so sad to hear about Richard and our thoughts are with you and Fiona, James & Heather.

As a committed Scottish rugby fan Richard was a real hero of mine (I was very proud, as was father, to have a relative who had worn the dark blue shirt) and over the years I have, through playing golf for the Old Fettesians, met many former Scotland players who spoke highly of him and said he was so unlucky not to have been capped more.

You and Richard were very kind to me when I was at school in Edinburgh in the 70s, as were Gordon and Jean, and I was so pleased when in 1996 Richard took the trouble to come all the way to Cheltenham to attend the funeral of father. It was so nice to see him again, albeit in sad circumstances, and it reminded me of what a thoroughly decent man he was.

At some time it would be nice to hear what Fiona, James & Heather are up to, also how the offspring of Gordon and Jean are faring.

We know that this is a very sad time and how much Richard will be missed.

With very best wishes.

James Campbell (Son of Cousin Jim)
