SERVICE - Jean Peacefully at Jenny's Well Care Home, Paisley on 29th April 2020. Miss Jane M S (Jean) Service, daughter of the late Archie and Kate Service. Private family funeral celebration will take place on Wednesday 13th May.

I remember her well. I attended John Neilson for 3 years from 1972. She was such an imposing figure and we were genuinely scared of her.... and yet I don't remember any incident where she was unfair or in any way cruel. She certainly had an air of authority. It really is the end of an era!

Jean Service was my maths teacher for 5 of my 6 years in the secondary level at John Neilson Institution, from 1964 to 1970.
In reality, she was a legend of that establishment and a bit of an institution in her own right.
