LAWTHER - Margaret On Sunday, 26th April 2020, Margaret Lawther, loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother of 2 children and 3 grandchildren, passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Margaret was born in Edinburgh on 2nd June 1928, to Isabella and John Burnett. After moving to Glasgow in 1936, she attended King's Park school, then went on to work for the Railway where she began a lifelong love of travel. On 30th July 1959, she married Sam Lawther and they raised Gordon and Jane. Margaret loved to go dancing and played golf before stopping work to become a dedicated full-time mother. She nurtured Gordon and Jane and provided a stable and loving family environment. She cherished longstanding friendships and enjoyed regular get togethers with groups from her railway days and many other special friends and neighbours. To everyone that knew her, she was selfless and generous of spirit with a heart of gold. She had an infectious laugh and always looked on the bright side of life. Margaret is survived by her son Gordon and his family, Liz, Claire and Sam and daughter Jane and her family Douglas and Emma, her brother Gordon his wife Betty and their three children along with three cousins. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday 6th May 2020. Due to restrictions on attendance we ask that anyone who knew Margaret take a few moments on that day to reflect on some happy memories of her as she is laid to rest.

Sad to hear this. I have very fond memories of Margaret - her sense of fun was infectious. She was my mum’s closest friend and it was lovely to hear them reminisce about their dancing days. I will be thinking of you all. Laura McLaren
