Commons Club, Glasgow and Edinburgh
The new Virgin hotel, which pays homage to Glasgow’s rich cultural history in its design, is now open upon the banks of the city’s river Clyde. Within it, is flagship restaurant and bar, Commons Club - which also has a location on Victoria Street in Edinburgh.
Food is outstanding and having recently dined at the Edinburgh location, some of the best services I've experienced in the city. Food is beyond superb, and this venue feels tranquil, relaxed and sophisticated. Showcasing the best of Scottish larder, featuring influence and nostalgia from her travels, Chef de Cuisine Emma Hanley's summer edition includes Cured Scottish Mackerel and Jerusalem Artichoke to start and 32-Day Dry-Aged Scottish beef, Squid Ink Linguini and Roasted Scottish Lobster Thermidor for mains.

Soho House, Glasgow
The secret’s out: Soho House Glasgow is opening. Located just off George Square, Soho House Glasgow will have various spaces for members to eat, drink and socialise across four floors, including a roof terrace. The redevelopment of the former Glasgow Parish Council Chambers and Collectors Hall form part of the Love Loan urban regeneration project, which is taking shape in Glasgow’s city centre.
To mark the occasion, I attended an evening in Glasgow last week with some of the Cities Without Houses members and alongside 100 guests, treated to a three-course dinner created by Soho House’s Executive Chef, Nathaniel Tofan. While we all wait for the opening, you can become a Cities Without Houses member or register your interest in membership for Soho House Glasgow via their website.

Bizarron
Glasgow Glasgow’s newest late night bar and restaurant venue opened in June – bringing a little Latin America to the city centre. Bizarron is the brand new recreation of 111 Hope Street, formerly home to Ad Lib, serving food and drinks from 6pm until 3am.
Imagine a classic diner meets your favourite bar, all with a hefty slice of Latin America. Here, you can feast on dishes like Feijoda, Moqueca, and Picanha Steak - all inspired by the rich flavours from across the Atlantic. And if you're up for a bit of a crunch, give their Chicharron Colombiano a go, it's a house favourite!

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
