Colin Mochrie talks about his show Hyprov: Improvisation Under Hypnosis.
1 Tell us about your Fringe show
A hypnotist puts audience members under, then I improvise with them. Same old, same old.
2 Best thing about the Fringe?
All the amazing acts.
3 Worst thing about the Fringe?
4am kebabs.
4 How many years have you been coming to the Fringe?
This will be fourth Fringe…that I can remember.
5 Favourite Fringe venue?
The Pleasance.
6 Best Fringe memory?
A woman pressing her bare breasts on the window at Bennigan’s and screaming “I love you”. She may have thought I was Bill Murray.
7 Best heckle?
People shout things at us all the time, so I just assume that they are suggestions for the scene.
8 Craziest on stage experience?
Did I mention I’m improvising with hypnotized people?
9 What’s on your rider?
I have a rider?
10 How do you wind down after a show?
A nice glass of wine, followed by whatever drinks I can get people to buy me.
11 What do you love about Scotland?
It’s my birthplace, so I get unlimited free shortbread.
12 What do you like about Edinburgh?
It’s a beautiful city with so many great places to hike…or watch people hike.
13 What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve done?
Make fun of Braveheart.
14 What kind of jokes do a Scottish crowd seem to respond to?
Ones with a punchline.
15 Favourite joke?
A drunk walks into a bar, orders a shot and immediately pukes all over his own shirt. "Wha' my gonna do now? My wifez gonna kill me."
"Relax," the bartender says, "give me a five-dollar bill". The bartender folds up the bill and puts it in the guy's shirt pocket. "Tell your wife some drunk puked on you and gave you five bucks to have your shirt cleaned."
When the drunk gets home his wife answers the door. "Where have you been? What happened to your shirt?"
He tries to put on a sober voice and says, "Relaaax honey, some drunk guy puked on me and gave me five bucks to have my shirt cleaned."
The drunk's wife reaches in his pocket, grabs the money, and says, "There's $10 in here!"
“He also s*** my pants."
16 Favourite Scottish food/drink?
Deep-friend Mars bar and Irn Bru.
Colin Mochrie will perform Hyprov: Improvisation Under Hypnosis at the George Square Theatre until August 28.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
