- Tell us about your Fringe show
It’s a mini radio roadshow for kids, complete with games, prizes, and plenty of audience interaction. In fact, loads of audience interaction. Basically, if the audience don’t join in, the roadshow could fall off-air and we might lose our jobs. No pressure.
- How does it feel to be playing the Fringe for the first time?
We’re so excited! We can’t wait to get up to Edinburgh and explore everything the festival has to offer- from all of the amazing performances to all of the delicious food stands. Oh, and, y’know, perform our own show.
- Why did you decide to perform at the Fringe?
As presenters on Fun Kids, we’ve been lucky enough to go to loads of children’s festivals and see a bunch of great shows, and we started to wonder whether we should make a show too. Debuting it at the Edinburgh Fringe – the ultimate festival – just seemed to make sense. Plus, any excuse to be in Scotland for a month is always going to be a winner.
- If you were not a performer what would you be doing?
Dan would probably be a mad scientist, becoming increasingly frustrated that he couldn’t create a shark-crocodile hybrid. Bex would definitely own a sweetshop, though she’d end up eating all the stock.
- How do you prepare for a performance?
Double-triple check all the props are in place, have some emergency Haribo, and hi-five each other backstage. Then Bex looks out to see how many people there are in the audience and Dan gets annoyed at her lack of professionalism.
- Best/worst advice you’ve been given ahead of your debut show?
Best: Do a show you enjoy, and the audience will enjoy it too.
Worst: ‘If it all goes wrong, just do an hour of animal impressions!’ (Thanks, Bex’s dad)
- Favourite thing about being in Edinburgh?
The atmosphere! Edinburgh is a glorious place to be with or without the festival, and just wandering around the streets is a calming experience. It’ll be nice to be in the same city as lots of other performers, and being able to see theatre, comedy, dance and music at the drop of a hat.
- What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve done?
Bex once climbed Arthur’s Seat whilst eating a deep-fried Mars Bar; although, that probably says more about her than it does about Scotland. The most Scottish thing Dan’s ever done is his attempt to deep-fry a can of Irn Bru. (We wish we were making that up, but it’s sadly true.) 9 Favourite Scottish food/drink?
We’ve heard quite a lot about something called a ‘square sausage’, which we’re very much looking forward to trying.
