- What is your Fringe show about?
Shame. Good old shame; social shame, sexual shame, family shame. So I talk about some of the worst things I’ve done and had done to me. And the wider issue of shame – what’s it all about and why are we all such little shame pigs? Imagine that but with jokes.
- How many times/many years have you appeared at the Fringe?
This is my sixth hour. SO MUCH TO SAY I GUESS?!
- What’s the best thing about the Fringe?
Hanging out with mates, going to the beach, the fresh air (not the radio show). Arthur’s Seat, the history in the streets (and sheets AMIRIGHT?!). And I guess I could say developing your craft.
- What’s the worst thing about the Fringe?
The debt, the rain, getting sleepy tired, too many egos in one place. Too much competition with people that you like and want to do well but somehow you’re pitted against them unlike any other festival. Yuk.
- If you were not a performer what would you be doing?
Well, I’m about to join a roller derby team and I think that could be my other true calling. Violence on wheels - yes please!
- How do you prepare for a performance?
Same as roller derby – get punchy.
- What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve ever done?
Ah this is a trick question designed to make you resort to lazy sterotypes about being tight and deep fat frying Mars bars – well, I won’t fall for it! I did once start chatting to some strangers in a pub – that’s not really done in London. Oh and once I went out without any pants on – but that was more of an accident.
- Favourite Scottish food/drink?
Well I have porridge every morning but that’s just because I don’t want to get to be a big old unit. Sometimes I buy a fun cereal and let me tell you – the night before I go to bed a little bit excited.
