Alex Edelman's new stand-up show ‘Just For Us’ is on at The Pleasance Courtyard – Cabaret Bar, from August 1 - 26.

  • What is your Fringe show about?

It’s an hour of stand-up comedy with a story at it’s core about the person telling it. Which, barring illness, should be me. I went to this meeting of White Nationalists in New York out of curiosity and that’s the centerpiece, I suppose.

  • How many times/many years have you appeared at the Fringe?

This will be my fifth time at the Edinburgh Fringe, and third solo show. My first time I was in a disastrous play and my second time I was running a mixed-bill show where I bullied people into putting money in a bucket.

  • What’s your most memorable moment from the Fringe?

In 2014, on the very last night, I had just completed an exhausting and exhilarating run and was closing out the festival with Set List, one of my favorite shows. Halfway through my set, the power went out to the venue and the audience spontaneously decided to light the stage with their phones. I finished by doing it acapella. It was wonderful.

  • What’s the worst thing about the Fringe?

The combination of weather and stress and late nights combine to really take a toll on your health. It’s exhausting.

  • If you were not a performer what would you be doing?

Working in baseball or doing time in prison for stealing cars.

  • How do you prepare for a performance?

Thirty seconds of thoughtful alone time and thirty seconds of wild dancing to whatever front of house music is playing on the other side of the curtain.

  • Favourite thing about being in Edinburgh?

Seeing my friends. The inevitable presence of Daniel Sloss, Alfie Brown, Ivo Graham, Felicity Ward, etc etc etc.

  • What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve ever done?

Defeated an English Army at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297 before being captured in Robroyston - near Glasgow - and subsequently being beheaded for my crimes against England.

  • Favourite Scottish food/drink?

Uhhhhhhh scotch. Duh.

  • Sum up your show in three words

Nazis, Robin Williams, Not Good At Following Directions.
