AWARD-winning Canadian singer-songwriter Tia McGraff plays the latest in Celtic Music Radio’s House Concert series on Monday, May 1 at the station’s Admiral Street studios in Glasgow. Born in Ontario, McGraff moved to Nashville in 1999 and met her now husband, songwriter, guitarist and producer Tommy Parham through his music publisher. They began writing together and Parham produced her breakthrough album, Crazy Beautiful, which earned a Grammy nomination for Americana Album of The Year. They tour all over the U.S. and Canada and appear together in Glasgow. Doors open at 7:30pm.

THE ANNUAL Glenfarg Folk Feast goes ahead in Kinross over the weekend of April 7 to 9. The internationally renowned festival is in its 39th year and features guests including English singing duo John Tams & Barry Coope, BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2014, singer Robyn Stapleton, pictured, Scottish-Irish-Eastern European-influenced group Dallahan, singer-songwriters Steve Tilston & Jez Lowe, and guitarist Maurice Dickson. A full programme of workshops, ceilidhs, competitions, informal sessions, singarounds, talks and children’s events takes place over the three days.

THE NATIONAL organisation that helps developing musicians, Making Music is running a workshop at Eden Court Theatre in Inverness on Saturday, May 13. Open to singers and players of all instruments from all backgrounds, the workshop is being hosted by Professor Richard Michael BEM and Hilary Michael, both of whom have extensive experience in classical, jazz and traditional music, and will provide an opportunity to meet new people and enhance musical knowledge and experience with a particular focus on creative and improvisatory skills. The workshop, which costs £20 to attend, is one of ten thousand events Making Music organises each year across a range of musical styles from Bach to Barbershop and samba to symphony orchestra.

EDINBURGH-based rhythm and blues band The Blueswater play four Scottish dates in April as part of a UK tour that includes gigs in London and Manchester. The band won a Spirit of the Fringe award for their show BLUES! in 2012 and have since gone on to tour nationally and internationally. They play Sneaky Pete’s, Edinburgh on April 13, The Tower, Helensburgh (14th), The Firefly, Dundee (15th), and The Hug and Pint, Glasgow (16th).
