Glasgow saxophonist Brian Molley, pictured, takes his quartet to India at the end of this month for an appearance at Rajasthan International Folk Festival in Jodhpur and concerts in Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore. The group, which released its first album, Clock, in 2013 and recently introduced new member, pianist Utsav Lal, was chosen as one of leading magazine Jazzwise’s acts to watch out for in 2014 and represented the UK at this year’s Rochester International Jazz Festival in New York as part of the Made in the UK programme, going on to play warmly received gigs in Harlem and Greenwich Village. It returns home immediately after playing in Bangalore to appear at the Jazz Bar in Edinburgh on Wednesday, November 11.

Fans of the ever ear-stretching springtime Counterflows weekend in Glasgow should enter April 8-10 in their 2016 diaries. Over the next few months Alasdair Campbell and Fielding Hope will be announcing artists and the shape of Counterflows 2016 will slowly emerge, like a magic painting in a 1960s Rupert annual. In the meantime, Campbell's AC Projects has a gig in Glasgow University Chapel on November 25 when Polish band Ksi??yc combine medieval music and the Slavic tradition with elements of minimalism and vocal experiments of the 20th Century. Tickets are available via the website and at Monorail in Glasgow.
