The Tolbooth in Stirling presents an international programme of jazz and roots music during November, beginning on Friday 6 with saxophone-piano duo Tommy Smith & Brian Kellock whose live performance was recently described as “world class” by Jazz Journal magazine. Shetland-Swedish-American fiddles and frets trio Aly Bain, Ale Möller and Bruce Molsky follow on Saturday 7, with leading troubadour and Stealers Wheel founder, Rab Noakes, pictured, appearing on Friday 13 and Gaelic singing quartet Cruin, whose Manus Mo Rùin track was shortlisted at this year’s BBC Folk Awards, appearing on Saturday 28.

Piper Fred Morrison has announced the dates for his extensive solo winter tour. Opening at the Aros Centre in Portree on November 19, Morrison, who launched his Live at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall album at the Piping Live! festival in August, takes in North and South Uist, Barra, Lochaline, Lochcarron, Ullapool, Dingwall, Edinburgh, and Perth before the end of the month. His dates in December include Kingussie, Glenurquart and Orkney, ending on Islay on the 11th.
