Straightforward biopic of disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong, who won the Tour de France seven times while pumped full of performance enhancing drugs – both a national hero and secret villain. Ben Foster gives a persuasive performance as Armstrong, on and off the bike, with Chris O’Dowd as the sports reporter who fought to expose him.
The Lobster (15)
Absurdist love story with Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz, who live in a future society where being single is a crime – and punishment is to be turned into an animal of your choice. Fascinating, funny, but a little under-cooked.
Pan (PG)
An origin story for the eternal youth, in which Peter is whisked to Neverland and introduced to his fairy powers and arch enemy – not Hook, but Bluebeard, played with pantomime panache by Hugh Jackman, the only reason to see a dissatisfying fantasy.
Hotel Transylvania 2 (U)
Return to Count Dracula’s getaway for monsters, which has now opened to human guests.
