Scots Doctor Who fans are in for a treat this weekend as the rebel Timelord travels to 22nd century Caithness for his latest adventure.

The Doctor, played by Scots actor Peter Capaldi, will arrive in the Highland county in Saturday's episode 'Under The Lake'.

The adventure will see the Doctor come face-to-face with hollow-eyed ghosts in an underwater mining base after his assistant Clara Oswald decides to investigate the discovery of a spaceship that was found at the bottom of a lake.

The two-parter will star comedian and Game of Thrones star Paul Kaye, Neil Fingleton and a deaf character, played by Sophie Stone.

Writer Toby Whitehouse, who created Being Human, told fans that he decided to set the story in Caithness because he loves the area, adding "because like me, it's remote and beautiful".

The story is not believed to have been filmed in Caithness.
