Harriet Kemsley discusses making her debut at the Fringe...

Tell us about your Fringe show

My show is called Puppy Fat and it's about how something bad this year has helped me get rid of my childhood anxieties. It's dark and fun and a little strange.

How does it feel to be playing the Fringe for the first time?

It's great, I feel like I've just started secondary school. There's still so much to learn and it's super exciting.

Best live act seen at Fringe?

This year - James Acaster, Luke McQueen, Sam Simmons and Katherine Ryan. Also Bobby Mair, but I'm biased.

Best thing about the Fringe?

All the craziness.

Worst thing about the Fringe?

It is so very long.

If you were not a performer/comedian what would you be doing?

I'd probably be a Farmer.

What do your family think of your show?

My Mum laughed extra loudly throughout so that everyone would know she was fine about it.

How do you combat pre-gig nerves?

I'm just trying to not take it all too seriously, you can very easily lose your sense of humour up here.

Worst on stage experience?

My dungarees fell off.

How do you recover from a hefty heckle? Do you have a set of stock replies?

People don't often heckle because I look like a child.

What do you love about Scotland?

I really like tablet and fudge. I just really enjoying finding new ways to
consume sugar.

What do you like about Edinburgh?

I like that you can see the sea and it seems so close and yet I've never reached it.

What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve done?

Rented a room in Edinburgh during the Festival and paid three times the going rate.

Who’s your favourite Scottish comedian?

Kevin Bridges and Frankie Boyle are amazing.

Favourite joke?

Maria Bamford. 'I used to be afraid of relationships, someone would ask me out and I'd say, 'just take my purse, don't hurt me’.
