Rebecca Humphries talks to HeraldScotland about attention seeking, £16 tickets and bananas.
Tell us about your Fringe show
It's a one woman musical comedy cabaret about Disney, and how it gave me unrealistic expectations about life.
How does it feel to be playing the Fringe for the first time?
I'm wired for it. Everything is new and shiny, I've never done life comedy before and it's the best. I even like flyering. On saying that we are getting spectacular audiences and I'm very aware that if we weren't it would be a different experience altogether for me. I'm a tragic attention seeker.
Best live act seen at Fringe?
LetLuce Show Pony. Absolutely nuts and funny as hell.
Best thing about the Fringe?
The bits that are both free and good (see above)
Worst thing about the Fringe?
The bits that cost £16 a ticket. Unacceptable at what should be an accessible celebration of the arts. Threatens to make it elitist. Ooooh, that got a bit serious didn't it?
If you were not a performer/comedian what would you be doing?
Probably still forcing my little brother to perform in plays with me in front of my parents.
What do your family think of your show?
They are my biggest fans because they HAVE TO BE.
How do you combat pre-gig nerves?
I have a banana and sing 'Under the Sea'. That is actually what I do.
Worst on stage experience?
For such a technophobe I have used quite a serious amount of it in my show. My projector sometimes likes putting the wrong image behind me. At one point I was talking about my best friend and the guy from 'Scream' appeared behind me.
How do you recover from a hefty heckle? Do you have a set of stock replies?
My show's about Disney so any heckle on topic is positively encouraged. There's nothing I don't know about it. As for any others...no stock response just my not so rapier wit.
What do you love about Scotland?
Shortbread. Fudge. Architecture. Greenery. Everything.
What do you like about Edinburgh?
Taxi drivers. Hotel Du Vin. Chez Joules. The Larder. Fingers Piano Bar.
What's the most Scottish thing you've done?
I had a tattie scone the other day. I called it a 'tittie' scone to the waitress though. She loved it.
Who's your favourite Scottish comedian?
Kevin Bridges hands down. One of the funniest people I've ever met.
Favourite joke?
Anything by Tim Vine. Eg: 'I went to the jazz playground. There was a slide. There was a seesaw. But it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing.'
