STYLE AND SUBSTANCE
The stunning views and lakeside location of the Beech Hill Hotel make it one of the area’s premier four-star destinations. From the beautiful landscaped gardens which lead all the way down to the lakeside, the indoor Lakeview Spa heated swimming pool, steam room and sauna, or the AA Rosette restaurant, the Beech Hill Hotel has a perfect combination for those seeking something exceptional.
You have unrivalled views of Windermere and the ranges beyond from all rooms which are lake facing, and on a number of occasions during our two day stay we were even treated to a fly past by training fighter jets from the RAF as we sat in the outside jacuzzi.
Friendly staff were on hand at all times to make our stay a very comfortable one, and the relaxed but professional atmosphere permeated to every part of the Hotel and facilities. There is also Free wifi available in all public areas.
SLEEPING MATTERS
Our room was elegant, large, spotless and well appointed. The bathroom was clean and modern, bed extra comfy and our 1st floor room had stunning views over the lake.
The Beech Hill Hotel offers a number of different room and balcony / terraced suite options depending on your personal preferences and are worth checking out prior to booking. We found the rooms to be quiet and our nights sleep was never disturbed.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The AA Award winning ‘Burlington’s Restaurant’ was also of an excellent standard befitting that of a 4 star experience. Head Chef Lukasz delighted with an array of superbly cooked chicken, lamb and fish dishes over the course of our two day stay.
We found the menu to be varied and exciting. Breakfast is self-serve buffet style and a popular array of British favourites and a bespoke service available on request including poached dishes.
Breakfast is served 7.30am to 9.30am Monday to Friday, and 8am to 10am Saturday and Sundays, while dinner is served from 6.45pm to 8.45pm 7 days a week which allows travellers the flexibility to enjoy their stay in the area to the maximum.
DRINK IN THE SIGHTS
For those wishing to stay entirely within the Beech Hill Hotel complex, there are superb Health and Beauty treatments available within the Spa area. ‘The Griffin’ Bar and Lounge is well stocked and the outside seating area offers fantastic views over Lake Windermere to enjoy while enjoying a cocktail or two.
NICE TOUCH
Beech Hill Hotel branded chocolates awaited us in our room, and the friendly desk Manager offered to take our bags up to our room, which is increasingly rare these days and very refreshing indeed.
ABOUT THE AREA
Windermere is a large lake in Cumbria’s Lake District National Park, in northwest England. It’s surrounded by mountain peaks and villages, including Bowness-on-Windermere, where The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction has modern displays on the children’s writer. Indeed, this particular attraction seems exceptionally popular with foreign tourists. In the north and for the fans of outdoor walking, hiking and exploring, trails lead to Orrest Head, a hill with views across the lake and the fells beyond, and Holehird Gardens, with their alpines, heathers and shrubs.
The area is simply stunning, and one that has something to offer in all seasons. And if you are a fan of boating, there are literally dozens of options that will allow you access to the lake – from all sizes of pleasure boats to self-sail options of tiny motorised boats and rowing enabled gondolas. River cruises and walking routes are all within easy reach.
The 3.5 mile distance is walkable, but many parts of the narrow road do not have pedestrian paving, and so walking the route is not advisable. We did note that a bus service seems to leave from directly outside the Beech Hill, which offers a lower cost to that of a taxi, which seems to be priced at £10 per journey, regardless of drop off point.
En-route to Bowness-on-Windermere you have of course the stunning Marina which is well worth a visit. The Marina café bar offers amazing views and is a must during your travels to the Town Centre itself. There is also a miniature train that takes sightseers the short distance from the Marina area to the centre and for less than £3 for two adults, it was well worth the novelty factor.
SUMMARY
All in all, the Beech Hill Hotel offers and affordable all-year-round four-star experience with stunning views, facilities and great location that will leave visitors wishing they could stay longer.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
