Excitement is building around the announcement of the winners of this year’s The Herald Top Employer Awards in association with s1jobs, which will take place on Wednesday, 30 October at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow.
The event will showcase the very best examples of positive workplaces across the country and there is still time left to secure a place at the celebration.
The host for the evening will be TV and radio presenter David Farrell and this week he said: “I’m thrilled to be hosting The Herald Top Employer Awards this year. Recognising the best employers in Scotland is so important in working life today. Everyone wants to know their employer is looking out for them and giving them the best environment to work in, and let’s be honest, it makes us all happier at our job.
“So to bring everyone together on the night and celebrate the best employers in Scotland will make for a brilliant evening, I can’t wait to hand out those Awards.”
There are 11 awards in total and the list of finalists includes small companies, charities and large organisations that all share a commitment to putting employee welfare at the heart of their operations.
There is a wealth of evidence now that highlights the impact of creating a positive workplace culture, from better staff retention to reduced absences and an improved bottom line and amongst the sponsors for the awards are companies that are already leading the way in supporting staff welfare and providing opportunities through training and development.
Amongst them is Arnold Clark, sponsor of the Best Apprentice/Graduate Programme category, and Lynne McBurney, Arnold Clark Group People Director, said:“With such an amazing list of finalists, it is shaping up to be one of the best The Herald Top Employer Awards yet. Arnold Clark is thrilled to be part of such an amazing event, and I cannot wait to find out who will be taking the top spots this year.”
Nikki Slowey, co-founder and director at Flexibility Works, who are sponsors of the Best Flexible Working Initiative category, said: “The awards are always a fantastic celebration of Scottish business at its best. And we love being able to meet the worthy winners and finalists after hearing so much about them. We always bump into people we know and enjoy a catch-up, as well as making new connections.”
Craig Anderson, Sales Director of s1jobs said: “s1 are eagerly anticipating this year’s Herald Top Employer Awards as it offers a unique opportunity to celebrate and recognise the companies that are setting the standard for excellence in the workplace. This event brings together industry leaders and innovators who are not only shaping the future of work but are also committed to creating supportive and inclusive environments for their teams.
“It’s inspiring to see how these companies are pushing boundaries and raising the bar, and we look forward to connecting with and learning from some of the best employers in Scotland.”
Meanwhile Mike Smith, Head of SafeDeposits Scotland, said: “We can’t wait for the Top Employer Awards so that we can celebrate and take inspiration from a host of fantastic workplaces and in particular from the winner of the Inspiring Employee Culture Award, which we are sponsoring.
And Nic Oldham, General Manager of Trump Turnberry, sponsors of the Scottish Top Employer of the Year award, said: "We are thrilled to be part of this year’s event as it provides an important platform to celebrate and recognise the outstanding achievements of Scottish businesses and employers.
“The businesses that have been shortlisted are an inspiration to all sectors across Scotland and highlight the great practices which are building healthy and successful workplace cultures which see both employees and employers thrive.”

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
