DAVID Wilson Homes has declared the first houses in its 194-home development at Cambusbarron near Stirling are due for completion by the end of next year, following approval of its revised plans by Stirling Council.
The developer noted that a previous application had been refused in 2020 “on the basis of over-development" and "subsequently refused at appeal on that basis" and, "12 months later and having thoroughly engaged with local stakeholders, a revised design proposal was submitted to Stirling Council for 194 homes”.
David Wilson Homes, a subsidiary of housebuilding giant Barratt Developments, declared: “Not only will the development deliver much-needed housing, but it will also deliver a significant boost via the delivery of new capital and inward investment to the area.”

David Scott, managing director of David Wilson Homes, said: “Following the previous application and appeal refusal we undertook an extensive stakeholder-engagement campaign over the last 12 months and worked hard with local ward councillors and Cambusbarron Community Council. This resulted in significant improvements to the proposals and a substantial reduction in the proposed housing density.”
Homes on offer will include two, three and four-bedroom terraced and detached houses and bungalows.
David Wilson Homes noted that its 194-home development included “48 on-site affordable homes”. These houses will be built by David Wilson Homes and managed by Forth Housing Association as “social rent properties”.

The developer said: “Central to the revised design is enhanced open green space and improved connectivity to Cambusbarron and areas surrounding the site. The proposals are underpinned by a strong commitment to biodiversity and net-zero enhancements.”
David Wilson Homes noted that, prior to the development being approved, it received “20 letters of support from local businesses and residents who were in favour of the application including Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce”.
Lynn Blaikie, president of Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce, said: “Recognising the significant positive contribution that this development will bring in terms of social and economic benefits to the local and wider Stirling economy, I wish to offer my full support for the proposed residential development…on behalf of...Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce.
“As a chamber of commerce, we fully support planning applications that will complement the strategic priorities of…Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce and we believe this to be the case with this application.”
Mr Scott said: “[The] unanimous decision by Stirling Council’s planning and regulation panel goes to show that Stirling Council is open for business and made the right decision. We are delighted to be in a position to commence development on much-needed new housing in this desirable and well-connected location.
“This extensive engagement and our enhanced local knowledge were reflected in our final revised design proposals which were submitted to Stirling Council.”
