A GLASGOW-based distributor of anime films, music, television shows and merchandise is poised to take advantage of growing international demand after securing a bank funding deal.

Anime Limited, also known as All the Anime, distributes old and new titles based on the Japanese animation style, for theatres and home viewing. It has clinched a “six-figure” coronavirus business interruption loan from HSBC to help support it through the pandemic and capitalise on surging demand for anime content.

Last year company launched an online film festival, Stream Anime, which provides audiences with a select number of titles to stream each month. There are now more than 1,000 subscribers to the service. Future plans include exporting to the US, one of the biggest global markets for anime, which the company expects to begin soon.

Andrew Partridge, president of Anime Limited, said: “This investment is with the future and our customers at front of mind. Not only will it allow us to be more flexible and responsive to our customers’ needs, we’ve also been able to retain our staff and grow during a difficult period without pausing the business.”

Garry McDonald at HSBC said: “As a digital business, the CBIL will enable Andrew and the team to keep diversifying their offering and export into new markets such as the United States.”

We’re delighted to be able to continue to offer support in this exciting next step of its growth and look forward to seeing the company flourish.”
