Scottish brewer BrewDog has claimed that a Dragon's Den snub could have been worth £360 million to investors on the television programme.

James Watt said he and fellow co-founder Martin Dickie offered a slice of the business which is based in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, during an ill-fated pitch for the series that brings on new entrepreneurs.

He said: "In 2008 we applied to Dragon's Den & got as far as a screen test and we pitched our hearts out before the producers rejected us.

"They deemed Martin & myself not investment worthy. We were totally crushed."

He said: "We were prepared to offer the Dragons 20% for £100,000. Based on our latest BrewDog valuation, that investment would now be worth almost £360m..." 

"We got over the rejection eventually. But it took a while."
