Debenhams said this week it to close one of its Scottish stores amid fall-out from the coronavirus crisis.

The British department store group is shutting down five of its stores in shopping centres run by firm Hammerson across the UK, including one of its busiest in Glasgow's Silverburn centre.

However, Next said it is to move a beauty shop into the former Glasgow Silverburn Debenhams.

It also emerged this weekend that hotels are poised for a “stepped” reopening in Scotland once lockdown restrictions are eased.

Also this week, the chairman of Royal Bank of Scotland called for banks to be given time to build up their capital strength after the coronavirus pandemic has passed, as major institutions said the delay by the government in providing 100 per cent guarantees on loans had slowed their ability to lend to customers.

Attracting interest this week was a rural property near Bridge of Weir for sale, with potential to develop rural or leisure business flagged.
