COMPANY leaders from a broad range of sectors have been named on the shortlist of the 2020 Institute of Directors (IoD) Scotland Director of the Year Awards.

More than 50 bosses are in the running for 12 director awards and seven regional categories in this year’s competition, with the winners to be unveiled on Tuesday September 8 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central.

The categories are designed to recognise leadership in a range of businesses and organisations, from international and family-owned firms to public and third sector entities.

Six leaders have been named on the short-list for the small-medium business category, including Marshall Dallas of the Edinburgh International Conference Centre and Heather Matthews of Little’s Chauffer Drive, which IoD Scotland said reflects the record number of entries it received, and the quality of those bids.

A new award has been introduced this year for directors who show a “positive social value and sustainability impact”.

Malcolm Cannon, national director of IoD Scotland, said: “The journey that business leaders across Scotland have been on over the last 12 months has been incredible. Given the challenges facing everyone, the IoD has been overwhelmed by quality of entries received.”
