Lawrie and Symington Ltd sold 120 cattle at Lanark, comprising of 39 bullocks and heifers, six young bulls and 75 cast cows, on Monday.
Prime heifers sold to 254p/kg and £1,535 for a Limousin cross, while prime bullocks peaked at £1,437 and 238p.
Cast beef cows sold to £1,055 and 138p to level at 119p, while cast dairy cows peaked at £895 and 121p to average 91p overall.
The firm also sold 2,078 prime hoggets and 617 cast ewes through Lanark yesterday. A smaller show of prime hoggets this week was topped at £144 per head for Beltex and 314p/kg for Texels to average 212p overall.
A larger show of 617 cast ewes and rams saw a big lift in trade with numbers scarce across the country. The sale was topped at £183 for Texels with Blackface to £98.
Harrison & Hetherington sold 42 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 234p and an average of 217p (+3p), while 29 prime bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 206p (+5p).
In the rough ring there was a plainer show of 20 cows forward this week which sold to a top of £1190 and 147p to average124p (-5p).
There were also 908 prime hoggets forward that sold well if they had been well-fed. Top prices on the day were £117 per head and 228p/kg to average 194p overall (+4p).
In the cast sheep ring 281 ewes were sold to average £92 overall. Heavy ewes sold to £148 for Texels and averaged £110, while light ewes peaked at £119 for Cheviots and levelled at £74.
The firm also sold seven prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 202p/kg and an average of 191p (-13p), while seven prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 200p and levelled at 188p (-2p).
One dairy bred prime bullock sold for 165p/kg. There was a total of 51 young bulls sold yesterday which averaged 142p (-20p). Fifteen prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 206p and averaged 159p (-16p), while 34 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 173p and levelled at 140p (-15p).
In the rough ring 99 cast dairy cows sold to 114p and averaged 90p, while 20 cast beef cows peaked at 177p to average 124p (-7p). Two cast bulls sold to 168p and averaged 117p (-23p).
There were also 692 prime hoggs that sold to £120 and 259p to average 202p overall (+9p), while 19, new season, prime lambs sold to £135 and 300p/kg to average 243p overall.
Cast sheep sold up to £134 for a Texel with 88 heavy ewes averaging £89 (+£18), while 17 light ewes peaked at £83 for a North Country Cheviot and levelled at £66 (+£12).
