FITNESS operation CaveFit is opening a second gym, in former bank vaults in the basement of The Edinburgh Grand hotel residence.

CaveFit, which already operates from West Shore business park in Granton, has sealed a partnership with The Edinburgh Grand’s owner, property company Chris Stewart Group, to open in the upmarket hotel and leisure complex this summer.

The fitness business was founded by personal trainer and former Royal Marine Commando Peter Oakden in 2014,

CaveFit The Edinburgh Grand will include a boxing ring.

Mr Oakden said: “To create a CaveFit gym in the vaults of The Edinburgh Grand is a totally unique opportunity. The space…puts us right in the city centre, where we can truly bring our sports-conditioning workouts to the mainstream. We are all about unleashing the inner athlete in everyone for better mental and physical health.”

Gavin MacLennan, general manager for The Edinburgh Grand, said: “The fit-out is under way.”
